Our organization always appreciates the generosity and involvement of people like you, with every contribution going towards Hoosier Rails to Trails Council's legislative efforts. Unfortunately, donations made to Hoosier Rails to Trails Council is not tax deductible, but further the cause of trails at the government level.  We want to provide you with the correct and appropriate information pertaining to your mode of support, so don’t hesitate to contact us with your questions.

CURRENT LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS

  • Hoosier Rails to Trails Council supports various efforts to establish trails across Indiana.

  • Some of these efforts include trails on former railroad right-of-ways, trails that run near railroad right-of-ways, and trails that connect different established trails.

  • Hoosier Rails to Trails Council supports Greenway Stimulus.

  • Hoosier Rails to Trails Council supports H. R. 4878 - National Discovery Trails Act

    • H. R. 4878 creates a new trail designation - Discovery Trail - to join the four trail designations created by the National Trails System Act of 1968.​

    • The Four Trail Designations defined by the National Trails System Act of 1968:​​

      • National Scenic Trails​

      • National Historic Trails

      • National Recreational Trails

      • Connector Trails - also known as rail trails, created through railbanking

    • H. R. 4878 needs co-sponsors.  Ask your congressperson to sign on to this important piece of legislation or support the legislation when it comes up for a vote.

  • Hoosier Rails to Trails Council supports Rail-with-Trail efforts in Fishers

    • Filed with the Surface Transportation Board indicating our intentions to work with US Rail Holdings, LLC to build a Rail-with-Trail​
